You can easily build this expensive-looking desk for a fraction of the price of those cheap, mass-produced chain-store brands. It offers a sturdy construction while keeping the design simple. The smooth, scratch resistant melamine top makes a perfect surface for writing or drawing. You can even add a keyboard tray and convert it into a computer desk. For extra storage space, you can also add the matching desk hutch plan.

Finish used (option 1): Old Masters Penetrating Stain (custom tinted) covered with water-based Flecto Varathane Diamond Wood Finish, in a satin sheen.
